Overheard In The Line: I Love Nabokov Edition

She didn't actually have a Nabby doll, but she was clutching her purse and a her Nabby jersey as if they were dolls. This was also in line for (now former Shark) Brad Lukowich's signing, so, you figure that one out.

Overheard At The Game, Last Home Game

The women behind us, aside from being completely miserable and crazy, were timely with their insults.

Overheard At The Game, 4/7/09

inspired by this picture taken by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images North America

After 2.5 periods of no goal action, Mina was inspired to exclaim this after Budaj made a save.

Overheard at the Game. Kings version

This one comes to us care of some pals over at Fear the Fin. They overheard this comment at the end of the game and were quite impressed by their section mate's math skills, just not in a good way.

Apologies for the last two being kinda sloppy. I was pretty far behind on these so I did them pretty quickly and it shows.

(Size issues fixed. Sorry about the problems, folks.)

Overheard At The Game, Carolina Hurricanes Edition

The following events took place outside HP Pavilion sometime between 6:30 and 6:45pm on Thursday, Feb 5th 2009.

Ok, maybe I embellished a little. Mina never wears a watch.

Overheard At The Game, Superbowl Version

I have been asked to explain so, here it goes. We were all sitting around watching the game when the commercial below came on. We were sort of amused by it, but sort of not, when all of a sudden our marsupial pal was punched in the face. Our sensitive friend gasped in horror while the rest of us giggled and was very concerned that the koala was real. With each repetition of the punch, she became more put off by the commercial and we all became very amused. The words "seriously, it was holding a cup of coffee and wearing glasses!" were spoken after she expressed her concerns.

It really is one of those "funnier if you were there" moments.

Just in case you didn't watch the Superbowl, this comic is in reference to the commercial below.

My Search Fu Needs Your Help

Ahoy there internet denizens. You may have noticed a lack of Overheard at the Game posts lately. We didn't hear anything at the Islanders game worth illustrating (209 is best experienced in person. There is no way to capture it. 208 was too awesome to make fun of) and while we did hear something very much worth repeating at the Sharks v Rangers game on Dec 20th, I need your help to share it.

If you were at the game, and stayed in your seats during one of the intermissions you may have seen a bit on the jumbotron where several Sharks were asked what they'd bring if they were stranded on a desert island. Originally I had wanted to do my own illsutrated version of JR's answer (which was amazingly hilarious) and then post the video. Just one problem, I can't find the video. I don't have the best search fu, but I have done my best to scour YouTube and the Sharks site and as of a few days ago, this gem does not exist online. So I am asking anyone who may have recorded it, or knows someone who did, to YouTube it and send us the link. It was one of the funniest videos I have seen them do during intermission and it's a shame it can't be shared.

Overheard At The Game, Dec 4th 2008

We hard a lot of great things at the game on the 4th against Columbus. The guys behind us were pretty amusing. We didn't hear the context for this one, in fact, all we heard was "...over the shoulder boulder holders." I just filled in the blanks.

Overheard At The Game: Dallas Stars Edition

Let's not spread this around teh interwebs, folks.

I decided to mix it up a little on this one. Our friend in the chair was done with a brush (ox hair for those taking notes), and the rest was done with a zebra pen. I forget what fonts I used, they were in a huge batch I bought awhile ago.

Overheard At The Game, Oct 19th, 2008

This was supposed to be up yesterday but an explosion of ink on the original and then some weird color issues lead to delays.

The young woman behind us was pretty keen on offering the players advice all game, even when it didn't make much sense.

Overheard At The Game, 09-27-08

Mina has a friend who Twitters things he overhears in random locations and she's taken to doing the same. I thought I'd carry this into an occasional feature, "Overheard At the Game," to document the odd things we hear, or say, while at Sharks game. While this game had several good candidates, I settled on my mishearing the lyrics to a song being played during intermission. I believe the actual words were something about riding a cowboy and saving a horse. My version is better.
